Rondo is an installable library that brings web2-caliber UX — like sign in with email — to web3 products, that increases conversion and potential users for decentralized apps.

What's
The Problem?

How could web3 apps increase conversion and potential users by delaying web3 wallet sign in?

Who's Using This Product?

The main users of this product would be folks curious to try web3 apps, but due to time or knowledge, do not want to sign in with a web3 wallet.

What's
The Scope?

The scope consisted of some light mid-fi screens, followed by branding and then hi-fi designs for the current state of the product.I focused mainly on the initial login screens, with a few other web wallet sign-up and transaction features.

Log In Made Easy

This was a project starting from the ground up. No design had been completed yet. There was initial talk about how the product needed to function.

There had to be a way to incorporate single-sign on, web3 wallets, and/or magic link style onboarding.

The Controlling Idea

The idea was to make it as easy and intuitive as possible for users to sign up for web3 apps. by temporarily removing the need for a web3 wallet

We chose to focus on traditional, login user flows focusing on magic link-style email login, removing the need for a password.

Users had the option of signing in with a variety of web wallets later, even after they signed up with an email and password.

Of course, users that are comfortable signing in through a wallet, still have the option to do so.

Technical Note: The user email and password where cryptographically stored on Rondo’s servers. The key pair could only be accessed by the user through server side encryption.

The Branding

I designed the logo, color scheme, and font pairings. Three colors were settled on for simplicity and clarity. Blue represents calm and trust.

It's All About the Flow

It's All
About the Flow

Hi-Fi

Rondo’s hi-fi login screens included error states for initial password creation and web wallet permissions.

Adding Email Login

Once a user has signed up with Rondo, login is handled through OTP authentication, or Magic Link.  An email will be sent to the user with a 6 digit code.

These screens provide error states, as well.

Successful Testing

According to engineering, after implantation, initial user engagement increased by an average of 5% across all web3 apps the Rondo library was installed in, during initial tests.

Note: Interestingly, most users did not link a web3 wallet to their login process and continued on with an email link.
